Water based activities, wine tasting, wilderness, wetlands...the Riverland has it all! With so many attractions and activities available, you’re bound to have a brilliant time exploring this beautiful region! Here we take a look at some of the region’s highlights:
Wineries
As the Riverland is known as one of Australia’s most important grape growing regions, you could probably hazard a guess that there may be at least a couple of wineries dotted around the place...
Well, there are 25 wineries to be exact; located between Renmark and Blanchetown, with several of these operating cellar doors! Not a fan of wine? Pay a visit to the popular ‘Wilkadene Woolshed Brewery’ to sample some excellent craft beer and artisan ciders.
Houseboat Hire
There’s no better way to experience the river than by cruising down it! Enjoy a houseboat stay with family or friends and choose your own piece of paradise along the Murray. The best part is, anyone over 18 with a drivers licence can play captain!
Yes, they can be rather pricey but it’s not so bad when the cost is split between friends. You can also save hundreds of dollars by purchasing a house boat package from a certain travel company you know and love...
Golf
With towering gum trees, abundant flowers and irrigated fairways, the golf courses of the Riverland could possibly be the best kept golfing secrets in South Australia! These superbly manicured courses can be found in Renmark, Loxton, Berri, Barmera, Waikerie and Morgan. Grab your golf clubs and get going!
Wilderness and Wildlife
Feel like camping, canoeing, bush walking or bird watching? There are numerous National Parks in the region providing ample opportunities for adventure!
Visit the Murray River National Park which is home to around 140 species of bird, immerse yourself in nature at the Danggali Conservation Park and Wilderness Protection Area and head to the Morgan Conservation Park for the canoeing adventure of a lifetime!
