R Pfeiffer, 1st January 2025 - Verified BidderRated 5 stars out of 5Laura & Noel are the most kind, personable & generous hosts! We stayed 4 nights in late May 2024 following the bushfires in February, which thankfully spared the cute & quirky hamlet of Dadswell's Bridge. The Giant Koala has amused me for years when driving past & the Turkey Farm (full of rare breeds) across the road is fascinating. The turkeys are friendly, full of character & incredibly photogenic. Just enjoy a delicious turkey burger at the cafe next to the Giant Koala the day before you visit the farm.
The Grampians Motel was built in the early 1960's so it suits our love of retro motels on our roadtrips. The rooms are spacious, modern & super comfortable (a deceptive exterior!). The bathroom is relatively original, which is fine because it's large & the shower is good. Outside can be noisy as it's the main truck route between Adelaide & Melbourne; however the rooms have been very well soundproofed so you don't notice any noise disturbance whatsoever. We slept really well.
We just love this motel for so many reasons & hoped to stay there in October, to & from our drive to the Yarra Valley. Laura & Noel were having a well deserved holiday of their own, which meant that the restaurant was closed; as Noel is the superb chef. Just isn't the same if you can't eat his beautiful, unique & fresh food! That is the jewel in the crown. Hope to return this year & we extend the Grampians community our love & resilience in 2025. LOVE THEM!
